Museum Abteiberg, opened in 1982, is widely considered the first museum of postmodern art. It was designed by the Austrian architect Hans Hollein in close collaboration with the reknown Mönchengladbach museum director, Johannes Cladders. The insitution’s permanent collection and exhibition programme focus on 1960s conceptualism to contemporary art.
