Ugo Rondinone is a Swiss-born and New York-based mixed-media artist. He is recognised as one of the great artistic voices of his generation, composing searing meditations on nature and the human condition, while establishing an organic formal vocabulary that fuses a variety of sculpture and painterly traditions. The breadth and generosity of Rondinone’s vision have resulted in a wide range of two-and-three dimensional objects, installations, videos and performances. His hybridised forms, which borrow from ancient and modern cultural sources, exude pathos and humour; going straight to the heart of of the most pressing issues of our time, where modernist achievement and archaic expression intersect. The artist is widely known for his large-scale land art sculpture, Seven Magic Mountains: located in the Nevada Desert and presenting seven totems made of large stones, stacked 32 feet high and painted in fluorescent colours. He is also a poet, collector and curator.

Rondinone is represented by Sadie Coles HQ, London.
