The Secession is the world’s oldest artist-run-space. It was founded in 1897 by artists Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser and Carl Moll, and the architects Josef Hoffmann and Joseph Maria Olbrich. In keeping with the motto that adorns its facade (“To each era its art. To art its freedom”), event today the Secession hosts a critical programme of solo and group exhibitions and public events to examine critical forms of artistic expression.
