Katherine Bishop

Katherine (Kat) Bishop is founding trustee of Blood Mountain since 2010 and founder of global consulting agency Campire. She is the recently appointed President of the Board of Directors at Performa, New York Biennale of Performance Art, and the first trans leader of any arts organisation board in the US.

 

Kat recently retired from her long-standing post as Senior Deputy Director of External Affairs at The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Kat joined MoMA’s Finance Department in 1997, following an MA in Arts Administration (Columbia University, New York) and years of commercial experience at Galerie Ropac and Galerie Krinzinger in Austria, and as the Owner-Director of the Boston-based independent exhibition space, Artkammer.

 

At MoMA Kat was responsible for fundraising and corporate sponsorship, membership, affiliate and outreach programmes, special events, marketing, communications, graphic design and continued fundraising for MoMA PS1. She initiated unprecedented multi-year partnerships with global brands, including Volkswagen, Hyundai and Hanjin, as well as international outreach strategies integrating tourism and marketing initiatives with Mexico City and Berlin.

 

In addition to Blood Mountain, Kat is former trustee of CEC Artslink and former founding director of the Pride Arts Festival in Boston. Kat was Jade Niklai’s early career supervisor during her post at MoMA’s Department of Development and since continues to play a significant mentoring role.
